Jesus Fish!!!
Big things are brewing around here!!!
First off, I shot my first wedding on film. My sweet friend Millie and her new husband Andrew tied the knot on Saturday! Congrats! I'll post some of my pictures once I scan them - I did a preview look, and I'm really happy! Maybe I'll be a real-life photographer after all :)
Secondly, my wedding is in less than two weeks! I've been making paper roses like nobody's business... I'll post some pictures of the decorations too :)
Thirdly, and here's the kicker - I NEED YOUR HELP!
Do you want to know why? Because my fiancee and his best friend are fabulously talented filmmakers who have a story that HAS to be made. It's been brewing for years, and the screenplay is one of the large factors that got Bryce into the American Film Institute (Which is basically the Yale of film school - they only accept like... 30 applicants for screenwriting per year.)
They've set up a kickstarter for fundraising - see the link below! Please watch the video, and if you have a few spare dollars, support us! We need your money!!! Also, word of mouth and prayers are coveted :)

Sequin time!
Okay, I know they're a little on the tacky side at times....
But I love sequins. I love them.
Ever since I was a kid, I've been attracted to anything that can cast rainbows on the wall -
The crystal pendant hanging in my grandmother's window, for example.
So it makes me really happy when I'm sitting in the car and my shoes look like disco balls, casting little diamond specks all over the dashboard :)
My clothing mantra is Wear What You Feel Like! So my choices can be a bit eccentric, but I always feel good in what I'm wearing.
One night while I was away at Colton's, my friends at school invaded my closet and went out on the town as "Classy Ladies". They sent me the pictures, and I laughed so much. But part of me thinks they look kindof fabulous :)
But I would like to make the case that sequins really can be classed up - check out these lovely items.

Weddings on the Brain
It's a summer of weddings! At least 20 people from my graduating class are tying the knot this summer. That's great, but we're all really close, and so it's really hard to choose which weddings to go to, and which to miss. One of Colton's film friends won't be able to attend our wedding because he's a groomsman in another on the same day a few states away. We'll miss you, Bryan Boling!
It's nice to be able to focus more on wedding things now that I'm out of school. I found it really hard to prioritize at the end of semester, so the wedding was put on the backburner.
But I think it's all coming together now. I love the bridesmaids outfits. Here are a few of them, although there are nine altogether. (I couldn't find pictures of the others, but one is cream, one is a blue skirt and floral top, and the last for Cassie is a demin chambray dress her grandmother is making! So nice.)
I'm trying to come up with ways to save money but still have special details - for the centerpieces, instead of having flowers only, I'm going to make paper flowers and birds out of scrapbook paper to display bouquet-style in mason jars. If you have any good patterns, please let me know!
Colton's getting really ancy to get married. I am too, really - we're both just so excited. We're in the home stretch!

The Last Stand of the Clique
Well we did it!
And what I mean is that I graduated from college yesterday. Whoo!!!
But it was really sad to leave my friends... We've been together since the beginning. We'll see each other several times this summer since there are so many weddings, but we wanted to do something special before we split.
And that something special is another ridiculous Justin Bieber Music Vid!!!!

Teavana
There's a new tea store in the mall called Teavana.
I went in to poke around while my mom was in the bathroom,
and they managed to give me 6 or 7 samples of delicious tea,
and thus dupe me into buying some.
I'm a sucker.
And I don't like pushy sales people.
But I have to admit, this is a really good cup of tea.

Whirlwind Weekend
Once again, a long absence!
I swear, it's not intentional.
But guess what I've been doing?
1. I spent all afternoon last week calling caterers and rental houses.
2. I finished my senior thesis.
3. I present my thesis for an undergraduate research conference, and also for my department the next day.
4. I entered a nature art contest.
5. I attended a few showings at the Nashville Film Festival. (And didn't at all understand Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives)
6. I came down with a bit of a case of Food Poisoning :(
7. But Colton cradled my head in his lap and patted my face with a cool washcloth :)
8. I got a Pinterest! Here's my pinboard. It only has four pins so far, but it's a start! Note - my username is Kelly Davie. The first time I'm using my new name! (Okay, so I won't actually have it for a few months more, but my actual name was already taken. Plus, now I don't have to change it!)
That's about it, really.

Refreshment.
I'm holding in my hand
(well... now in my tummy)
a bottle of Pom pomegranate peach passion white tea.
Sounds yummy, right?
Yeah, it is.
But the thing is - it has the word "super" in the title.
It's called "antioxidant super tea"
That suggests alot regarding its contents.
Even if I don't end up with some sort of marvelous jumping or punching or flying skills by the end of the night,
I'm hoping that I'll still gain some sort of useful skill,
like super couponing,
or long boarding,
or cat whispering.

California, Here We Come!
I just got back from Sunny (well... sortof.) California!
Colton and I will be moving there this summer right after our wedding.
It's a pretty big move... I'm truly a southern girl. Until this trip, I had never been west of Texas.
But there's good news - I love it!
I didn't take many pictures, but here are just a few of my favorites from the trip.
(It's really not as different as I thought it would be. We're going to live in the valley. The only place I even deemed tourist-photo worthy was Venice Beach, which was just as zany as I expected!)

Happy Valentine's!
Okay, so it's a little late, but Colton and I just celebrated yesterday. I drove down to Bham on wednesday evening, and came back in time for math class (yuck!!!) today.
So we had all of yesterday to spend together!
We:
-ate a greek lunch with Mark and April
-explored
-had several foot races and jumping competitions (Colton won all of them as usual, dang it.)
-found a log in a kudzoo jungle to sit on and talk
-searched the going-out-of-business blockbuster for cheap movies
-had some ice cream at brusters
-biked and longboarded around the neighborhood til dinner (including some pretty sweeeet hills.)
-ate dinner at Cafe Dupont, which I highly recommend if you're looking for an expensive but delicious meal. I had the lamb duet - leg and chops, with sauteed cabbage garnished with rosemary, golden raisins, and pecans. It's the best thing I've ever eaten. It was such a treat!!!
(Plus, they serve local ingredients and are supporters of the "slow food" movement, which my mother and sister would approve of. Good choice, Colton! Here's the website, if you're interested: http://www.cafedupont.net/)
-packed for Colton's trip. (He got a call about a gig a few days ago... he's in Atlanta today and tomorrow AC'ing for a short)
It was the best (belated) Valentine's day ever. And maybe the best day ever in general. Colton and I agreed that we thought we had never loved each other more. Isn't that nice about love? It just grows and grows!
Also. I'm dying for a tandem bike.

Wedding plans are on my mind!
I like to plan things!
I like to plan events!
I love to decorate!
I love dresses!
So this whole wedding-plans deal is a really happy experience for me.
We have a photographer. (One Love Photo... they're some of the only ones we've found who use film.)
I have a dress. (Yeah!)
We have a date, and a location. (Colton's family farm in Montgomery... It's beautiful, and only about an hour and a half away from his house. Around four from mine, but we were thinking a small-ish wedding anyway.)
I'm working on bridesmaid dresses... (I'm making a pool of twenty+ dresses in differents shades and prints of blue, and my bridesmaids will just pick out what they like! I like different hues and patterns mixed together.)
Colton is alot more interested in the plans than I thought he would be. I like that :)
Here are some pictures of the farm, (it's the same farm I've posted pictures of before) including some cute shots of Bryce and Kaity.

Oh, my mister!
Well, I'm back in the swing of school here in Tennessee,
and my mister is in Haiti.
What?
Yes, that's right. He's in Haiti.
He's filming a documentary for Hands and Feet, which is an organization that combats corrupt orphanages, rescues the children, and builds safe new places for them.
He's armed with a camera, a portable dolly called a flider or something, lots of water and energy bars, and his good friends Bryan and Bryce. (Bryce happens to be engaged to my good friend Kaity K.)
Now, about this engagement. (Mine, I mean!)
I was trying to wait until we had some pictures, but that might be awhile, so I'll just go ahead and tell you the scoop.
Basically, it's all about bluebirds. (Buckle your seat-belts... I'm really detail oriented.)
The first time I ever really, really talked to Colton was at Bryce and Kaity's halloween party. I dressed up as Middle Earth, he dressed up as the Son of Rambow. (Have you seen the movie? If you haven't, do.) I already had been developing a pretty wicked crush on him since the summer, but our conversations had been fairly limited to photography. But on the night of the party, we ended up sitting on an ice cooler talking about our families, adoption (His family has added four adopted children in the past few years), school, dreams, and other stuff. He tells me that he and the guys were going to the Symphony the next night, for the Halloween Boo-tacular. Later, I got back to the room. "Girls, we HAVE to go."
So we did! And it was lovely. I love the symphony, plus they had all these storm troopers marching around, and Dumbledore, and they played many macabre-inspired pieces that I was familiar with.
Afterwards, we headed over to the 24-hr diner to get some coffee and cheesecake. I discussed literature with Colton and his roommate Phillip, and Colton shared with us what a dismal week he had been having. (His car had been driven off a sort-of cliff by a fellow film-maker while working on a short (the guy was okay other than a head gash, but the car was not), his laptop had been stolen, and he scraped the top of his dad's truck while going into the parking garage for the concert). I decided to make a bold move...
I've always thought that bluebirds were lucky. (Ever since I saw a Shirley Temple movie about it at my grandma's house when I was a kid.) So I drew a bluebird on a card with my trusty prismacolors, and told Colton I hoped it would change his luck for the better. The day he got it, his laptop turned up!
After that, we started talking regularly and were dating within the next month or two.
Our year anniversary was on December 9th. Colton gave me a special letter with a big chunk cut out of the middle. A few days later, he gave me a similar letter. I began to get my hopes up.
On Early Christmas (caused annually by conflicting work schedules), I opened my gift from him and saw a hand-drawn bluebird. It said that I had convinced Colton that bluebirds were lucky, and that if I was lucky enough to find two more by December 25th, the day commonly known as Christmas, I might have much, much, more. Bingo! So then I was fairly certain what was coming.
The next Christmas celebration was on Christmas Eve at the Davies. I had another gift under the tree. It was a beautiful necklace with a bluebird inside, and another card inviting me to go on an after-dinner adventure. We bundled up and set out in the forest, built a fort out of sheets and chairs, and ate cookies and milk - a recreation of the first date I planned for us. He handed me a flashlight and told me to explore. After some scrambling over rocks and pushing through foliage, I finally saw something hanging from a tree... it was a watercolor painting (of a bluebird, naturally) that I had made for Colton ages ago. On the back were pasted the cut-out pieces of the letters. Once I got done reading them, Colton pulled out of his coat the last of the bluebird cards. It said, basically, that I was the One. And that I always talk about having all things in common, but there were two things he still wanted to share with me - a home and a name. I cried, and he cried, and we stood there for a long time, and then he took out the ring.

Oops!
Gosh, guys.
It seems like I'm the most inconsistent blogger to ever have a blog.
Sorry!!!
In other news, I've decided to turn over a new leaf health-wise.
I've always been really skinny (sometimes tooooo skinny! I looked like Gollum in high school), but I'm certainly not in shape.
I get winded walking across the parking lot to chapel.
So!
In order to try and build my mister a hot honeymoon bod (I mean, really. It's such a good incentive to be a little more trimmed and toned when you know someone is going to see you NAKED in six months. How weird!) I've been working out a little and trying to make wiser food decisions!
I'm terribly proud of myself, because I love, love, love food. I love it.
So I certainly can't sacrifice taste and that nice luxurious feeling when you're eating something divine.
I've been eating a lot of artisan lettuce with lots of dried fruit and a homemade dressing (lemon, zest, olive oil, pepper, ginger, a little sugar). I'm trying to use less butter when I'm cooking (which is probably the hardest thing. I love butter) and trying to drink water with every meal. (Although I'm still allowing myself a morning coffee. And possibly an evening coffee.)
Also, I've been doing a pretty intense yoga video (I can do the crow!) and yesterday I did 75 lunges and some crunches and tricep things and curls. Plus, I went sort-of snowboarding for a few hours in the, might I suggest, ridiculous blanket of snow on the ground. Hello... this is Tennessee. I have not been snowed in since 1993, and I didn't like it one bit. (Except I admit it's very pretty and I like to play in it. However, it prevented me from getting to the store, so I had to eat only oranges, coffee, plain rice, and stale crackers for two days.)
Let's hope I can keep it up!

In other news, I've decided to turn over a new leaf health-wise.
I've always been really skinny (sometimes tooooo skinny! I looked like Gollum in high school), but I'm certainly not in shape.
I get winded walking across the parking lot to chapel.
So!
In order to try and build my mister a hot honeymoon bod (I mean, really. It's such a good incentive to be a little more trimmed and toned when you know someone is going to see you NAKED in six months. How weird!) I've been working out a little and trying to make wiser food decisions!
I'm terribly proud of myself, because I love, love, love food. I love it.
So I certainly can't sacrifice taste and that nice luxurious feeling when you're eating something divine.
